ATLANTA – Kuck Baxter Immigration, LLC, at the direction of Managing Partner, Mr. Charles H. Kuck, and Freedom University, at the direction of Executive Director, Dr. Laura Emiko Soltis, are proud to announce a partnership to provide pro-bono legal representation to impacted undocumented youth in their DACA renewals.

DACA, or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, is a program that protects over half a million undocumented youth from deportation. The program’s beneficiaries, or as colloquially called, DACA recipients, are entitled to employment authorization and, in most states, a driver’s license. DACA recipients come from around the world, with 9 out of 10 recipients being born in Latin America. According to the Georgia Budget and Policy Institute (“GBPI”), approximately 21,600 DACA recipients live in the State of Georgia.

The future of the DACA program is uncertain. President Donald Trump announced the termination of the program on September 5th, 2017 and, by action in the federal courts, the program has, effectively, been on life support.

Today’s announcement by Kuck Baxter Immigration, LLC and Freedom University comes in anticipation of the United States Supreme Court’s hearing regarding the ultimate fate of the program on November 12th of this year.

Kuck Baxter Immigration, LLC and Freedom University remind DACA recipients that they can and should renew their DACA protections as soon as possible as the Department of Homeland Security is continuing to accept these renewals until further notice.

“DACA recipients are hard-working and innovative members of American society. The United States is the only home they have ever known. Our firm will continue to stand up for these remarkable individuals,” says Charles H. Kuck, Managing Partner of Kuck Baxter Immigration, LLC.

“Freedom University’s mission is to empower undocumented youth and fulfill their human right to education. We are proud to partner with Kuck Baxter Immigration to help ensure that our students with DACA can continue to work, drive, and live more safely in our community, and we will continue to fight for the full human rights and dignity of all undocumented people,” says Dr. Laura Emiko Soltis, Executive Director of Freedom University.
