While an important part of our work is providing tuition-free classes and helping students gain admission into college, our students also recognize that unequal access to higher education is an injustice that can only be overturned through collective action. After all, underground schools for undocumented students banned from public universities should not have to exist in the 21st century. 

As a freedom school committed to liberatory pedagogy, Freedom University provides social movement leadership training opportunities for students interested in social justice activism and creating the conditions for systemic change. These trainings include media training, legal training, public speaking seminars, and opportunities for participation in highly disciplined and organized direct actions.
